The Round Tuit Dancers, an easy level (Phase II & III) Round Dance Club, is an Ottawa-based Round Dance Teaching Club and a member of the Eastern Ontario Square and Round Dance Association.

Round dancing is best described as choreographed ballroom dancing for couples. It is a social non-competitive activity. On the dance floor, choreography is directed verbally by a round dance cuer, enabling all couples on the floor to dance the same steps at the same time. Round dance has many choreographed sequences of steps that are borrowed from or can be transferred directly to normal ballroom dancing.

Dance Instructors, Gerry and Jim Sawtell, are members of Roundalab, the International Association of Round Dance Teachers, Inc.

This year they are offering a Beginner (Introductory) Round Dance Class. Lessons start on Thursday morning September 22, 2011 from 11:15 to 12:15.

More advanced Round Dance Classes are in the afternoon from 12:30 to 2:30 on Thursdays beginning September 8th, 2011. Gerry & Jim will start with a review of basic round dancing and plan to move into Phase III Waltz and Foxtrot. Dancers of all ages who have previously had Round Dance or Ballroom instruction are invited to join us.

It should be noted that lessons are held weekly September through to the end of April (with the exception of the 3rd Thursday of every month). They are held at The Churchill Seniors Recreation Centre (345 Churchill Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario K2A 0E7 …just off Richmond Road).
