What we call folk dancing is simply the casual or formal dancing of a particular place, or a particular era. Also listed in this section are the traditional step and pattern dances of various ethnic groups.

There are organizations that offer international folk dancing lessons and dances, as well particular associations that offer folk dancing of a particular region (Scottish Dancing, Irish Dancing, English Country Dancing, Square Dancing, Cajan, Quebecois, etc.). A New England folk dancing style which is also popular is called Contra.

Folk dances can be alot of fun, even for absolute beginners.
